Before & After Care

Taking good care of your tattoos is one of the best ways to ensure they look good for an entire lifetime.

Before Your Appointment

Keep the area to be tattooed out of the sun
Avoid any injury or flare up of existing conditions to the skin
Avoid blood thinning products
(ex. caffiene, alcohol, etc)
Make sure to hydrate well in the days leading up to your tattoo
Moisturize the skin that will be tattooed
(but not the day of the appointment)
Exfoliate the skin that will be tattooed
(avoid any excessive irritation)
Get a good night's rest
Eat a full meal and drink water throughout the day of your tattoo
Wear clothes that are comfortable and make it easy to access the tattoo area
Arrive with clean skin without any products applied, no need to shave
If you have pain concerns, take tylenol, 
not ibuprofen (thins blood)

After Your Appointment

If used, leave second skin on for 24-48 hours
Re-cover after first bandage if desired, second bandage can stay for up to 5 days
After covering, wash 1-2 times a day with gentle soap and water, rinse thoruorghly, pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel
After washing, apply lotion in a thin layer
Lotion intermittently as needed throughtout the day when it feels dry
Only touch or handle tattoo with clean, freshly washed hands
(especially the first 3-4 days after bandage)
Keep washing and lotion daily until tattoo stops peeling, itching, flaking
(usually 1-3 weeks)
Keep an eye out for any excessive irritation, allergic reation, or signs of infection
(we will review all these during your session)
Do not get a sunburn, fully submerge/ saturate tattoo in water, pick at it, etc.
Avoid activities or clothing that will cause friction or excessive sweating in the area for the first 1-2 weeks
